Have you ever felt the urgent need to do something? For instance, have you ever just randomly felt like cleaning up the house or like playing the piano because something inside of you has a desperate craving to? Well, that's how I feel about writing.
Usually I just feel like I have to write something because I'm a writer. That's probably when I write my worst stories. But then there are the times where I feel compelled to write, as if God's telling me there's something that He needs to say, and I need to write it down in story form. It sounds odd, but it's how God speaks to me sometimes, and other times it's how I speak to other people.
Lately, I have had the greatest urging to write. Mainly because my emotions seem to pour out into every word, and I feel as if it's how I organize my thoughts. It's my escape from the real world where I actually share my real world in a fictional way.
Writing brings out both the best and worst in me. I believe, though, that this is how good stories are made. They are made when we have that burning passion, that need to write. When I am upset, for example, all of my emotions are there, and they seem to come out on the page. That to me, is my passion for the story.
So, in whatever you do, give it your best. Let that burning passion come over you, and pour out into that task or that hobby of yours. Whatever it is, don't do it half-heartedly.
